I
have fought for funding for our public schools and for higher
education. I have sponsored
bills that make a positive difference in public safety and
youth protection. I helped secure a reduction in the sales tax on food,
and have been an outspoken advocate of retaining and expanding services
to Utah citizens in greatest need. Additionally, my House Democratic
colleagues elected me to serve as a member of leadership.
My
husband Zell and I are the proud grandparents
of Clara Allison McGee and are immensely grateful to watch the
parenting she receives. We want every Utah child to experience the
loving attention and the safe environment that Clara has. We want all
children to be ready for school, to have the best teachers, and to
study in smaller classes.
As
your representative, I will continue to stand behind these principles:
Thanks
to the support of many individuals, I avoided any
dependence on special interests that, sadly enough, pay the
campaign expenses of most legislators. The Deseret Morning News
reported that I received highest percentage of campaign contributions
from individuals and the lowest percentage from PACs and special
interests.
